What is S-Curve?

Updated: May 13, 2018

An S-Curve is the Graph of the Project costs over the time. It can also be typically plotted for the Resource hours over time.

S-Curve is the cumulative value of the Project costs on the Y-Axis and the Timeframe on the X-Axis Which takes the shape of the S. S Curves often plotted with Planned values and compared with that of the actuals.

At any point of time, looking at the graph one can analyse the Cost variance and the Schedule variance as well. S- Curve will be generally used to understand the trend of the costing and Resource optimization in the Project.
